“For it is in giving that we receive.” St. Francis of Assisi
PTPA encourages every U.S. parish to provide both spiritual and financial support while focusing on the areas of need that are unique to their twin parish community. Most importantly, parishes are encouraged to:
- Live the Gospel by forming Christian bonds of love and support with their twin parish,
- Develop and maintain real personal relationships with the pastor and individuals in their twin parish,
- Encourage and facilitate visits and ongoing communication with twin parish,
- Provide financial resources and support to help their twin parish meet their religious, educational, medical/health and economic needs, and
- Learn as much as possible about the culture, history and language of their twin parish.
U.S. parishes actively involved with their twin parishes provide ongoing support and services, such as:
- Financial support for schools to fund teacher salaries, supplies or materials
- Medical and dental missions and donation of medicines and equipment
- Construction projects for churches, schools and rectories
- Clean water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) projects
- Shipments of needed goods and supplies through PTPA Sea Container Program (click here to learn more)
- Microcredit programs and other sustainable projects
- Distribution of food to parish
- Fundraising to make these services possible
PTPA provides support, guidance and direction to help in this process.
