Please join us for our next PTPA Zoom Gathering. Our very special guest will be Bishop Jean Désinord, the bishop of the diocese of Hinche, Haiti - located in the central plateau.
Bishop Jean has established himself as a well-respected, strong leader of the Catholic Church in Haiti. In 2021, Bishop Jean launched a strategic planning process with the guidance of the Catholic Leadership Institute to develop a pastoral plan for the Diocese of Hinche. Join Bishop Jean and his U.S. liaison, Mr. Drew Peloubet, to learn about the bishop’s plan, which can give all of us in a twinning relationship some insights into the thoughts and vision of a Catholic bishop in a very challenging part of the world. Bishop will also share with us what he sees as the benefits of parish twinning AND some of the challenges it can create.
It is imperative for those of us twinning in Haiti and Latin America to listen not only to the hopes and dreams of our individual pastors and parishioners, but also the bishops so that our efforts are in sync with what they tell us they need.

How to Twin.
Since its founding in 1978, PTPA has grown to become the largest, most significant organization of its kind.
Through seeing and touching poverty, U.S. parishes have experienced not only the physical needs, but also the humility, dignity, joy, patience and love of the people themselves and a new awareness of the breadth of the Catholic Church and its mission throughout the world. -

During the 2022 PTPA National Conference in Nashville, Bishop Spalding spoke from the heart about the profound impact PTPA has had on the Catholic Church in Haiti and Latin America.
“Much as the German industrialist Oskar Schindler, depicted in the movie ‘Schindler’s List’, saved more than a thousand Jewish refugees from the Holocaust, your organization (PTPA) is helping US parishes save poor parishes in Haiti and Latin America by providing the funding that allows them to simply exist. The list of Haitian parishes helped, like the list in the movie, is an ‘absolute good’.
Please know of my continued prayers and support for your mission.”
